CiscoLive 2019: Let the Magic Begin!

There is just something, for me, that is truly magical about CiscoLive in the United States. Every year I look forward to it even more than the previous year.

There is a true glorious and wonderful magical world at #CLUS. Call it Community… call it Summer Camp for Geeks…. call it whatever you like. But it is there. Waiting for me… calling for me.

There is no secret handshake… no admission price. If I were to give someone advice who is looking for this kind of true magical community… the advice I would give would likely include:

Don’t come focusing on what you can “get out of” the community.
Come with a “One Among Many” attitude
Come looking for true Community
Just be simply you

I have never seen or found a community like this at any other conference. It is true and real and magical. The is a true purity about it. Just a “One Among Many” and a “We Are all in this Together” kinda feeling.

2014: The Year Fish Finds the Awesome Magical Community of #CLUS

I stumbled across the community in 2014 just by chance. I had been following Amy Renee (3rd from right in first row below) on Twitter. I saw a few kinda fun twitter threads she was having with people about CiscoLive US. I thought “this seems like a fun group of people”. So I decided to introduce myself to her. Yes I was nervous. She seemed “so cool” and pretty much adored and loved by all…. and I wanted to her to like me. I was about to send my first ever “DM”(direct message) on twitter and didn’t know the social twitter etiquette of DMs and whether or not I was violating that etiquette. Yes… I overthink things too much. 🙂

I told her quite simply that I wanted to meet people I could just simply be myself with. I didn’t want to have to be “on”… or feel like I’m supposed to be “smart” all the time… or feel like I’m going to be around people who want to play the game “who is smarter?”

She introduced me a simply awesome community of people at CiscoLive. A community that Tom Hollingsworth and Amy Lewis helped support, build and grow.
